Wilmer was originally the same age as Skeezix, which means that Gasoline Alley now has a 98-year-old senator. A big problem with this strip is that the Wallets age in real time but non-members of their family, including Rufus and Joel, don’t. Joel was a white-haired grandfather in the mid 1960s and should probably be about 120 now – way too old to be hauling junk.
I came here, resolved that if the Sunday strip had cat food commercials or buffoons, I was, tearfully, going to remove it from my queue. I will wait now, though I don’t even bother with the daily any more.
Today’s strip wasn’t even that good, but I am relieved to see that Scanarelli can still draw Walt and Skeezix. I thought he had forgotten how.

Kind of an odd comment for Skeezix to make, considering he and Wilmer were business partners for a long time. He’d just say, “Hey, there’s Wilmer!”
