How can they be happy? Hillary and President Obama aren’t locked up.

If it isn’t stupidity is it the lack of conscience?

Nah, the studies only measured on the self-reported “feelings of happiness.” Currently, there isn’t a way to actually measure “feelings of happiness” and compare those to another person.

Nor do those studies show if the respondents actually behave in ways that demonstrate they are happy.

I.e. if conservatives really were happier, why all the gun sales, fear of gays, fear of immigrates, fear of anything not them?

Conversely, if the liberals were happy, would they be trying to change things?

Anytime you hear the phrase “studies show” you better watch out. It’s like the phrase “some people say” or “they say” that the liar-in-chief uses frequently.

These are rhetorical devices meant to deflect the statement from the person saying it while attempting to boost their own credibility. In the case of “studies show” the truth is that exceedingly few scientific studies show very much that’s really definitive. Mostly studies reveal more ambiguities and more questions at the end of the study compared to before the study. This is generally because of the complexities and non-linearities in the world coupled with the role of chance.

Very, very few people understand how to interpret results from a scientific study. Is the study design likely to prove or disprove the null hypothesis? Were the dependent and independent variables assessed and managed well? Are the results reproducible? Is the researcher biased (even unknowingl). Are the results statistically significant? On a relative basis? On an absolute basis? Is there an accurate assessment of the base rate for the phenomenon under consideration? Are there other, not immediately apparent, yet equally valid explanations for the results? On and on with a myriad of questions not well understood by non-scientists.

Silly Season is right from the basis of an an observable heuristic. Fear and anxiety do seem to resonate with regressives while hope and human progress appear to resonate more with progressives. I have no idea which group, qua “group,” can be said to be happier.

In this toon, however, it’s the conservative who seems to feel violence will make her happier.

    Just sayin’

This is not the same country that I was born and raised in. IMHO: This is a monstrosity governed by those who intend to take away all our rights. Fire all Congressional members and the President and the VP. Outlaw lobbyists. I will get off my soapbox now.

Liberals go out of their way looking for things they think are wrong with the country and it depresses them, Conservatives don’t do that, it’s easy to be depressed and sad when you look for things to be sad about

Such vitriol. So many, angry, hateful intellectually dishonest comments today. There are your all inclusive, kind , caring liberals, being exactly what they claim to hate.

It’s easier for conservatives to be happy: they only have to be doing well themselves, they don’t have any empathy for anyone else.
