I have seen the same robin coming and sitting on the fence. It waits till all are clear so it can sneak and steal some more of dry cat food from the bowl outside. I enjoy watching it pleasantly.
It’s been a long time since I lived in a winter state (Arizona’s been my home for seven years now, and it’s currently 82 degrees F here, with an expected high of 84), so I’ve forgotten – is it REALLY still that cold now in the winter states (i.e., more like mid-January than mid -March?)
To legaleagle48: Yes it’s really still that cold where we get snow and sometimes below zero temps. I’m in Colorado and the temps have been getting warmer, thank God.
In general: I found out not too long ago that robins don’t migrate at all.
I’m in England, it’s 11.12pm and outside it’s 2.5 degrees C with a light frost. Despite living on the 4th floor, I still get Robins on my balcony, so I encourage them by feeding them. Garfield would have to really work to catch them.

Robins go where the food is. In Winter, that’s usually just outside the city. They are the first back in Spring because they don’t have far to go.
