Starting to wonder what context exactly that person said that. Seems a little forced in order to create a setup for that punchline. I mean, did she meet somebody who believed in actual, movie-style witches and felt the need to warn children, or what?
Witches are knowledgeable women who provided medicines and age to fight off disease and illness in olden times ( and many still do). How they use their skills can be for kind or selfish reasons — just like politicians.
