Im pulling the switch and saving the 5 but Cow does have a valid point .

No, because I donāt work for the railroad so I donāt have the key one needs to be able to use the switch.

This is an ethics thought exercise known as āThe Trolley Problemā. In some versions, the person alone on the track is someone close to you.
Disclaimer: I didnāt learn this from studying ethics, but from an episode of āThe Good Placeā. However, itās a very real thing, first posited by Judith Jarvis Thomson (I looked that part up).
