    Judy in Disguise was a hit in 1968. If he did make a mix tape, it would have to be on a reel-to-reel tape – cassettes were about a year away at best. Boomboxes came out maybe a decade later, by which time John Fred and the Playboy Band were long gone.

    Technology aside, if they were 12 years old – a reasonable age for bubble gum music – when this song was popular, they were born in 1956 and are now 55. Pretty old to be pushin’ out babies.

    tjdestry, people can like music that was made before they were born. I do and I also love the classic movies of the 30’s & 40’s but I wass born in 1960.

    Or maybe he recorded it off the radio, knowing that she has always liked that song since she heard it when she was a kid and her Aunt had the record album
