Please… while there are occasional mistakes, a poor credit rating is entirely the fault of the person. The credit bureaus just evaluate the facts, they don’t change them. However, in this case, since the boys are minors, I would blame a family member since they are most likely to steal a minor’s identity.
uhmmm… don’t know that I can agree with that. Everytime I’ve checked my report;
It has company’s I’ve never worked for or even heard of.
Credit cards that have been cancelled (I have informed them repeatedly).
Late payments on an auto loan that was paid off years ago (and all payments on time, I even gave a notarized letter from the bank).
Non payment on a hospital bill from a state I’ve never been to (the hospital agrees I’ve never been their patient).
etc…
The wierd thing is, I still am preapproved for loans, credit cards, and mortgages.
@infinite_kydeem: Almost sounds like they are mixing up at least one other person with the same name as you. Hmm, maybe I should check mine. There’s at least three other people with my exact same name within a 50 mile radius of me. One of them lives in the same small town I do (in a $1.5M house, grumble, I know because the county sent us his house deed). Wonder if the credit report folks have us confused.

I have an unpaid credit card bill from 1964 on my merged credit report (I was 12 and I didn’t get my first credit card until 1974).
