In case any of you “Pickles” readers who are unfamiliar who Henry B. Eyring is, he is one of the two counselors of the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of which “Pickles” author Brian Crane (and myself) is a member. So, my fellow Latter-day Saints, when did Eyring say that? (Can’t get away with nothing with your blood sugar dropping a little, can you, Earl?)
You’re lucky, Earl—there was an old mystery where the wife baked a pie/cake and specifically told her husband NOT to eat it as she left for a meeting. Hubby was a greedy grouch, ate half the pie/cake. . .and died from poisoning. Her defense was, “I told him and told him not to eat it.” I think she got off. . .
In as much as Brian quoted an LDS authority may I leave a message from mine? The Jesus of the bible would tell you He loves you and desires for you to know Him as you Creator, Savior and God. Any other rendition of Him which is worshiped in a lessor entity breaks His heart. He knows how easy it is for us to be duped by the adversary and desires for you to know and understand that He did it all for each of us by taking on our sin and forgiving us of them when we accept this act of Love and Grace from Our Savior. He knows you desire to know God and be faithful to what you have been told is true by your founder. But He also knows all of the principles you live for in Mormonism are exactly opposite from what the bible teaches. This hurts Our Lord as it does when people follow all sect that diminish what He did for all of us. I was a practicing Temple Mormon for 20 years and will be forever grateful to some Christian friends who challenged me to look into things on my own and not follow blindly what I was being told about “the truth”! I know your trying to be faithful to what you have been told is true. I know you are doing the best you can to show Jesus you love Him. None of this means anything until we are worshiping Jesus because of who He is and not from a position of what we can do for Him. It is not to simple! It is difficult. But it is the only way that assures eternity with Him as He told us, He is the only way to the Father. He will be faithful to this truth and all who refuse it and try to get there on their efforts will fall short of Heaven as we all mess up and fall short of perfection but Jesus will stand for us at judgement and will tell the Father this one stood for me, let them in. I leave this with you in love and respect for your efforts but also as a helpful warning.

Opal should bake Earl a smaller pie while she’s baking one for her club. That way she doesn’t have to worry about him eating it.

The quotes OK, what tickles me is the grown up people here jumping on the religion bandwagon. Adults with imaginary friends are always funny.

When you meet Earl, you can just assume he’s in trouble, and you will be right 100% of the time.
