    A classic I’ve always liked: Andy is talking to Chalkie, and he says, “I’d best be off. I promised to take Florrie out tonight and I’m already running a little late.” When he gets there, Flo says, “I mustn’t complain. After all, you got the day and the month right!” Andy looks out at the reader and says, “Nice start.”

    I’m actually surprised Andy carried the basket out. (Andy actually doing work? Will wonders never cease?) You don’t see very many clotheslines these days. In a way, that’s kind of sad. Oh sure, they’re not always practical (e,g. when it’s raining or cold), but they get the job done when the weather’s right.
