And the damn things appear to be hiding in the carpet.

And what’s worse is that they are always pulling childish pranks on him.

I notice that Alice isn’t looking up…. did she…. did she untie his shoe laces again! It’s not funny you know. He has a permanently bruised nose.

Sometimes I think she has a mean streak.

Buddy, on the other hand, is used to this, could care less.

I think there is a hole in the floor where Arthur can escape his demons, for a little while.

One of Arthur’s demons is that little loose spot on the carpet that he’s been promising to fix for…oh…ages. He’d do it now, but he has a sprained nose.

A little ancient history – during WWII on American air bases in China, the Chinese laborers would dash across the runway directly in front of planes that were taking off. This was so the demons chasing them would be shredded by the props. They had to time it really closely, otherwise the demons would be able to avoid being sliced & diced. Needless to say, many of them timed it a little too closely. Arthur’s attempt to bury his head in the carpet is much safer and probably just as effective.

Co-incidentally, Arthur just came up with the name for the new Social Web Site for Gardeners he’s been working on: FacePlant…

Is he sure Mecca is in that direction.. I think 16 degrees to the left would compensate for the compass error

It takes a special talent to trip over your own shoe.
