Lucy asks, "Is this something unusual, or do all pitchers float?"<BR><BR>

A long time ago, they mentioned that they lived in Hennepin County, which is in Minnesota. Likely Minneapolis, or one of the many suburbs. Having been there, I can tell you that, yes, it can rain hard!
