“Well, can you at least point it out to me on the screen?”

“Why are you so difficult to work with?!”

She’s been difficult ever since her “cup holder” (CD tray) broke.

It could be worse. She could be calling in to the Tech Support line, and you have to try and come up with descriptions that they understand. There are just some people that should not be allowed within a hundred miles of a computer.

Tech support can’t help with the phone app because they can are still on the mainframe terminal query version.

I have this problem frequently. I’m responsible for ensuring that a nuclear plant control room simulator looks and acts like the real thing and I get “the reactor coolant system didn’t work right”. A complex system with tens of thousands of points that can be operated in hundreds of different ways. They rarely even leave their names so that I can ask what the *#$@& they’re talking about.

Tech Support: Say it again slowly so I can write it down.

User: I can’t power up my PC. Don’t ask me to turn it off then turn it back on…it won’t turn on! I’ve checked the power plugs and all the other cables. It won’t power up! Stop reading your script and give me a real solution!

Tech Support: No… Not that part. I get it. Repeat the part where you said your coworker was looking out the window when an SUV slammed into the power pole at the end of the driveway then all the lights in the plant went out.

What isn’t it doing? What is it doing? Then go on from there. No need for fanciful made up words.
