People say Christmas is about giving and not getting but the one who receives gets. Therefore, Christmas should be about giving to those that are less fortunate than you.
Even fewer get it now than when this first came out.
For myself over the last few years there’s been even more joy in making presents for my niece. Or in teaching her how to play drums using chopsticks and an empty Swiss Miss can (chopsticks were perfect drumsticks for her little hands two years ago, but they cramped my hands trying to grip them as such). May be a different story when she gets older, but right now shes still a little kid who gets thrilled by little things.

When I heard that “Giving is better than getting” when I was a kid, I thought it was crazy.

It’s better for your sanity if you walk on by, Chuck!

Since giving is a greater joy, I shall be contented with the lesser joy of been a receiver. That what she meant.

Sally doesn’t gives, she only gets

And she doesn’t want to find out either!

Maybe she’d want some money, like tens and twenties.

To paraphrase Terry Pratchett: “Only adults think like that, when you are a little kid you are a selfish bugger.”

What did you expect?, all the girls in your neighborhood are materialistic witches.

Linus sums up the “True meaning of Christmas” pretty well.

It’d be a lot funnier if it weren’t true…

This inspired me to search (on this page) for a favorite series of strips, starting Dec. 11, 1961. It even has old-timers Shermy and Patty in it.

Sounds like a lot people today……

Exactly. My wife and kids are Jewish so we don’t celebrate Christmas, but even if they weren’t, this is a terrific reason not to.

C’mon everyone. When we were that age, we all thought that.

I remember Sally saying, once, “All I want is what’s coming to me.” I always thought that if Santa heard that, she might get what’s coming to her.

Sally will at least get a “D” on this.
