Coming Soon 👀 At the beginning of April, you’ll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
“Oliver Spain” (mentioned by Jack in panel 1) was the antagonist of “The Case of the Forked Road” (he of the really terrible haircut).
Kylie Flinker has been mentioned, but not shown (I don’t think). “The Big Hiatus”, a New Bobbins story that came out between “The Case of the Missing Piece” and “The Case of the Severed Alliance”, involves Lottie telling Shelley about events from the previous summer, between “the case of the moped insanity and the case that didn’t seem to feature a mystery”. Jack and Linton were hanging out by the river (as Linton’s suggesting here), where Sonny finds them, needing their help after Lottie, Mildred, and Cecile disappeared through an interdimensional portal (as one does in Tackleford from time to time). (Linton: “What have they done now, Son? I don’t want to hear the words ‘elaborate scheme’.” Sonny: “That’s… not fair!”) Sonny’s pleas that he lost his sister finally get through to a reluctant Jack. (“Geez, all right! But I want you to know, Kylie took her top off here yesterday. While I was at the dentist. I’m risking a LOT.”)
Gotta say, though, that if Kylie’s going out with Ollie… aim for better prospects, Jack. I have no idea what Kylie sees in Ollie, but you probably don’t want any part of it.
Also, as today is now October 21, mention should be made of yesterday’s shared birthdays between two of the greatest webcomics creators, and their greatest creations. October 20 is the birthday of Ryan North of “Dinosaur Comics”, as well as the strip’s main character, T-Rex. (And if you don’t read Dinosaur Comics… start. You can find remastered editions here on GoComics, and Ryan North is basically a genius.) And, of course, it was the birthday of one John Allison, as well as his own greatest creation… DESMOND FISHMAN. All should know the glory of the Desmond.
Happy belated birthday to John, Ryan, T-Rex, and our Lord and Savior Desmond!
Sadly, filling one’s ears with water does not muffle sound as effectively as you’d think. Ask anyone who has swum laps in a pool shared with a synchro swim practice.

Jack’s going to need a bigger guitar if he’s planning on navigating in it.

It’s not a bad idea.

I’m getting the impression Jack’s still got aways to go still before he’s getting any fame or fortune with that guitar.
Linton, if you want to go down to the river so bad, nobody’s going to stop you going by yourself.

Sonny looks less than impressed.

Maybe Linton is going to live in an RV, DOWN BY THE RIVER.
