On September 9, 1947, the world’s first computer bug was recorded. But this was no ordinary ‘software bug’. It was an actual dead moth that caused a relay to malfunction in the Mark II Aiken Relay Calculator, an early computer at Harvard University. This first actual case of bug being found was recorded by and attributed to computer scientist Grace Hopper.
