Linus says, "This is what happens on halloween night, Marcie . . ."<BR><BR> Linus continues, "The Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch, and flies through the air and brings toys to all the children in the world!"<BR><BR> Marcie stares at Linus. Linus smiles.<BR><BR> Marcie says, "I've heard about you."<BR><BR>

I like the look in Linus’ eyes in the last panel, like he is thinking,“Is Peppermint Patty the one, who has told Marcie about my belief in the Great Pumpkin?” Could be; anyway, you can tell he really did pattern the “Great Pumpkin”after Santa Claus, as Halloween’s answer to (equilvalent of)Santa Claus(for Christmas.)

And by now, Marcie had become pretty much a “permanent” Peanuts character. Although she had joined the strip two years before,(when she and Peppermint Patty met at summer camp)she did not appear in the strip with consistency until summer 1973.
