A friend and I trade cat sitting. Doesn’t cost anything and trust each other with cats and house. We each have a full set of keys we keep and the emergency call list.
I understand the angst of leaving your animals behind if you take a few days to go somewhere. You feel like the Grinch. I have found though that especially cats fare very well on their own. Of course they make you feel guilty when you get back. Dogs are a different story. My cats would be fine at home, but I’d either take my dog or leave him with trusted friends.
Completely off topic here, but, Amanda, do you have a nearly identical relative here in Florida?
I was looking out the car window the other day, and I saw a woman sitting on her porch, reading (I think). She looked amazingly like how you draw yourself in this comic – hair up, large square-frame glasses, slight pudge in the middle (no doubt caused by the comfortable shirt), and she was even wearing a long-sleeve shirt!
Don’t laugh, highs are in the mid to high 80s these days.
So, anyway, I’ll probably never see her again, but I had to wonder.

All you need to do is buy a motor home and go with Dan when he goes to class. Toonces would have a place to stay and you could treat it as a vacation.

Leave Toonces with family.

Really Danny, you’ve lived with a cat and her person for how long?

Poor Dan, he tries so hard. But like any man, he keeps putting his foot in his mouth.
