This is sad. A house without books is not complete. My maternal grandfather worked for the county library for a few years and had a branch library on the back porch when my mother was growing up. That instilled a love in reading in her that she passed on to her three sons. I pity the younger generations who are growing up with screens rather than a good solid book which provides a tactile sensation as the pages turn and the smell of ink on paper. We passed our love of reading on to the next generation as my nephew is another avid reader and a developing writer.

No books . . . explains a lot about Kevin.

I used to look at home decor magazines when I was young and bored, but I had to stop. Room after room without any sign of books – it was horrifying!

Miles needs to introduce Kevin to some good books before it’s too late!

Mom hated grounding me for this one reason. I always found other ways to entertain myself. No tv? Ok, I’ll read, or take the dog for a walk, and if it was during the school year, I often had so much homework, it didn’t matter anyway.

“A house without books has no soul.” – some guy. I read that on my mom’s old tote bag from the bookstore.
