I have liked several of those over the years. Most acknowledge election is a matter of popularity….or non-election is a matter of non-popularity.
I liked John Cleese’s line; if you want good government don’t vote for the guy you’d like to have a beer with, vote for the guy who is so smart you’d be afraid to talk to them.
For some reason, I remember when I was very young, in a New Jersey industrial town. The ice cream truck was a rare treat.
Agnes can barely afford the dilly bar let alone run for any office.
