How do they twist them so that neither direction untwists them?

Just keep twisting one way until it breaks from metal fatigue, then replace it with one of the spares you keep lying around (I have dozens).

blame automation. The machine that seals the bags does two at once ~ one clockwise, one counterclockwise. So it’s the luck of the draw.

Personally I take the rip-n-tear direction at that point; it makes a mess, but feels good to vent my frustration.

The Universe will always try to resist all of us. No matter what wonderful accomplishments we achieve, the passage of Time will break it down and eventually remove all traces of our very existence. But don’t take it personally.

In this area, some bags get a plastic clip that’s easy to use (hot dog and burger buns). I keep a bunch around to use on other bags.

Pull the twist tie towards the end of the wrapper so it slides off and discard it. Then close the bread bag with a nice clothes pin. I keep several in my misc. kitchen tools drawer and they work great. They work well on open bags of chips, too.
