The war is still going badly . . ."<BR><BR> Marcie continues, "The troopship 'Leviathan' docked at Brest with ten thousand men aboard; four thousand of them had the flu . ."<BR><BR> Snoopy thinks, "Don't you have any comic books?"<BR><BR>

This means that in his fantasies Snoopy now relives October 9 or 10, 1918. The Leviathan (originally known as the SS Vaterland, then after being seized by the US in 1917 as USS Vaterland, then renamed to USS Leviathan in 1918) arrived in Brest on October 8, 1918, with around 2000 men sick and 80 dead. 34 days later (on November 11, 1918) the “war to end all wars” ended.
