The Japanese Maple out front dropped its leaves all at once. Then we had an East wind. By the time I looked there were two feet of leaves piled in front of the door!

Today is National Adoption Day. So Bbear- time to head to the shelter to adopt a kitty or two.
National Espresso Day
National Cashew Day. I like cashews, but they’re kind of expensive.
National Eat a Cranberry Day. Somehow, I can’t picture anyone eating just one cranberry. It seems to me like you need more than a few cranberries to make cranberry sauce or cranberry relish or whatever.
In reply to Tad from yesterday. I like crows too. They may not sing as pretty as some other birds, but they are pretty intelligent. One of my brothers told me he likes crows too. He used to like how they cawed when he got to work. He thought it sounded like they were laughing at him because he had to go to work and they didn’t.
There was a very rare black bear sighting this week at 5 am on US 50. Sadly it was seen in the headlights as the car was doing 70 mph. No time to react. The bear was DOA and the car was towed. What makes this noteworthy is that black bears were not known to be this far west in WV. They like the ridges in the Appalachians in the eastern part of the state. It was the first black bear sighting in the DNR agent’s memory.
In many areas, we’re having a marcesent autumn. Usually, cool weather signals the trees to form a layer at the base of leaves that would allow them to drop off. But this year, mild weather lingered and was only broken by a sudden cold snap. The trees hadn’t formed that layer, and now tons of dead leaves are stuck on the trees. There are quite a few leaves still on trees in the NE today so little Oliver would be kept busy with his net. On another note, it was cold yet sunny…. just perfect for a looong walk with pooch. Met many, many others…blocking intersections chatting (and sniffing) while attracting pedestrians over to coochy coo the pups.
What a nice little kitty Oliver is. His heart is definitely in the right place. :) I like it when the leaves turn beautiful colors, although it is a little sad when they drop off the tree. On another note, heard a chickadee calling outside yesterday.
