Like Winston Churchill, Queen Elizabeth will be the last of an era. She served her country actively in the Second World War before assuming the crown from her father in 1952. Elizabeth oversaw her country’s resurgence from near devastation and adapted to a fast-changing world order, all the while maintaining the dignity of the crown and the Royal family. (a tough job, the latter!) I enjoyed the privilege of seeing Her Majesty while she visited Boston in the 1970’s. She too, is a major member of The Greatest Generation. Charles?
