Sometimes a larval blowfly has to do what a larval blowfly has to do!

As it happens, last night I was catching up on some episodes of the tv series Big Sky. In one episode, one of a trio of kidnapped young women has an infected wound, and they figure that the only way to treat it is with some maggots they find in some leftover unconsumed food. Everyone—captives and viewers alike—finds this pretty disgusting.

Maggots are a legitimate medical tool for wound care. I’ve pulled up the research for our care providers (and threw in one on air transport of maggots, and one on patient attitudes toward maggots).

I love these special hero vs hero story lines: the Masked Maggot vs the Mighty Sore!
