Are they called “covers” because one artist “covers” for another?

These guys play some great liner notes!

They’re booked solid through January.

Their guitarist is no Jimmy Page, what do you expect from a light weight band?

Who booked all those? I’ll wait for the movies.

Great comments again this morning! There’s only a handful of covers that I thought were better than the original. One that comes to mind is Joe Cocker’s “With a Little Help From My Friends” His version was so good and raw that even the Beatles liked it better.

I normally prefer the original artists’ version of songs, but one exception is “Come a Little Bit Closer”, originally done by Jay and the Americans. Johnny Duncan and Janie Fricke did a cover of that song, and I think it is superior to the original. Having a female vocalist actually singing the female part makes a huge difference.

Not a quiet show, lots of volume(s).

And they’re playing the classics.
