I’m glad I finished putting up my outdoor Christmas lights yesterday because really cold weather is heading our way. I started putting up my lights a few days or so ago, but then one string of lights didn’t work completely so I bought more lights on Thursday. I even bought a string of solar lights for around the front door where I don’t have an outdoor outlet. And I made a Christmas tree too. I got the idea from something I saw in a store window just a half block from my house. They used 2 tomato cages, one on top of the other (wide ends together & narrow ends at the top & bottom) and they strung lights on them. But I went one better. After using zip ties to fasten the 2 tomato cages together, I wrapped green garland (50 feet, made for indoor or outdoor use) around the tomato cages, again using small zip ties here and there to hold the garland in place. Then I added the lights. Oh yeah – I put the tomato cages in a big flower pot. The “tree” was a little wobbly, so I found a tree branch I had trimmed off a tree earlier this year (it’s about an inch and a half in diameter) and I stuck it inside the tomato cages to help hold them up. It looks like a tree trunk. I didn’t have quite enough garland to get the look I want, so I need to get more of it today (maybe not a 50 foot piece, though). I’l take a picture when I finish the tree.
Sad sad news. Craig lost his battle with cancer Thursday morning with his little dog and I at his side. I am devastated, he was so kind, loving, generous and full of life. The outpouring of grief – and anger – that he was hit with this disease, from so many who knew him has been nearly overwhelming.
Treated my pooch to a morning ride to the park. Both the dog runs and public lavatories are being renovated …. we didn’t need either. My boy spent most of his life ‘running off leash’ here. Gonna be wet weather most of week so this sunny day was a treat (a cold one). On another note, I forgot to load the bird feeders this morning. On yet another note one of the cats barfed his breakfast wet food…but I found it right in his dish! (Oliver).
Santa would send Krampus after Jack and Chesney, except that Krampus runs away screaming “Not them! Anyone but them!” at the very mention of their names. On another note, saw a varied thrush while out walking today.
Animom4. So sorry to hear that the one you loved is gone. Hope you have people around you to help sustain you during your grief. It seems we all are losing those we love as time goes on. We have our memories forever. Love and best wishes to you.
