Mr. Pedantic reminds you that “Wherefore” means “Why,” not “Where.” Shakespeare’s Juliet is asking why his name is “Romeo,” not where he is. That’s why the next line is “What’s in a name?” She’s trying to reconcile the fact that Romeo is from the family that is feuding with hers.

It isn’t Romeo, he’s an impasta.
