Jon, just boil some lasagna sheets and use them to cover the cat food. You won’t smell it when you serve it, and Garfield might think he’s being served lasagna!
I once saw a documentary on pet food where the pet food executive said that the problem isn’t the making something the pet would eat, but rather it was making something that the pet owner would feed to their pet and the pet would still like it.
There used to be a brand of canned cat food that wasn’t well known. It was disgusting. It was made primarily from organ meat, so very gray. Stinky like you wouldn’t believe. Cats loved it — they’d go nuts when we opened the can and they got the first whiff, if you can call that stench a whiff. I’m sure it was more of what they would choose to eat if they controlled the menu and it was probably better and safer for them than the processed stuff they get now. We only gave it to them occasionally and only on the back porch.

Wet cat food does stink! I won’t give my cats that slop. Lucky for them my husband does. I can’t stand the smell.

I can’t stand the smell, either.

I’m surprised a cat who enjoys pizza and lasagna would be willing to settle for catfood.

Jon, how long have you had Garfield? You would think he would be used to the odor or found some other way to adapt?

Given his relationship with pizza, why does Garfield even eat cat food any more?…

I do recall quite a number of strips where Garfield wouldn’t eat cat food, this one is no exception.
