Your top of the line, Mensa type vamps have familiars i.e. servants. They keep the place nice & dark; they’re also intended to be a day time line of defense. Of course, it is hard finding good help these days… ;-)

You also walk away from the creepy music in those movies. You start walking and you hear the cellos, nah-nah, nah-nah, nah-nah…. “Ooo. Spooky that way! I’m not going that way…” (starts walking in the opposite direction) “Lalalalalalala!”
