I remember a drawn picture of a robot in front of a STOP sign with indications it had obeyed the order for a very long time. Rust or cobwebs, that kind of thing.
I read that when the US started to occupy Japan, in 1945, they put up stop signs and this is what happened. The obedient Japanese drivers would see the sign, stop, and wait for something to countermand it.

Interestingly, this is an alien stop sign on an alien planet— in English.
No stop sign on Earth is black with a red border. That might be the one thing every country in the world has agreed upon.
