Cats are almost alone among vertebrates in that they cannot digest plant material. Almost every species can eat some plants and some meat.
Most carnivores eat some plants and most herbivores are opportunistic meat eaters. If a small enough animal get close to the mouth of an herbivore, it might just decide to eat it. Deer, horses and cows have all been seen eating small birds and amphibians that got too close and were bite sized. Deer have also been seen scavenging off an abandoned carcass. Koalas and three-toed sloths are rare in that they are pure herbivores. (Two toed sloths and pandas eat insects, carrion, and small animals as well despite their reputation as pure plant eaters.)
Carnivore actually includes all animals where 30% or more of their diet is animal while Herbivores are classified as less than 5% of their diet is meat Omnivores have a diet of 5 to 30% meat. So 50/50 still gets you classified as a carnivore.

Don’t worry Poncho. That just means the cats leave plenty of bits for dogs to steal.

So does the first panel mean dogs don’t like cats, or cats don’t like bones?
