seems I remember Linus claiming,that he had gotten the idea,of the winter pastime of “box-sliding,”as he had done,in the last decade of Peanuts(when the strip was still in production),from his grandpa. Maybe “box-sliding”,many years ago, really was a "forerunner"or at least a variant of, sledding,or snowtubing,in winter.

You know why there are sometimes little angels on top of christmas trees? Well, you see, once Santa had a real bad day. The reindeers called in sick, the wife kept on nagging and then this little angel showed up with a christmas tree and asked “Yo, fatso, where do you want me to put the tree?” And since that day some christmas trees have little angels on top.
