We compost all vegetable material, be it from the garden or the kitchen. I have so much garden waste that it would overrun a composting bin. So I dig a hole in the ground in the woods and fill it with my lawn clippings, fallen twigs … whatever.
By fall, the pile is about 4 feet high. In the winter it can be seen steaming in the cold weather. By spring it’s about 6 inches high.
I have 4 holes and rotate between them. I “mine” the oldest each spring and our flower beds love it.
