For the suspicious:There are any number of places that would eagerly offer such preferential treatment to police or firefighters, or even other public workers. Maybe they want special consideration should a time of need arrive, or maybe they just know what they go through and support them, or they’re retired first responders themselves. Maybe this is more common in rural areas than cities where corruption of different sorts may reign.
I even know of a diner that will offer free hot drinks and even quick meals to county workers driving snowplows during snowstorms—that is, if the cooks, etc. can even get in. Needless to say, the drivers don’t raise their plows entering and leaving the drive and parking lot—they don’t plow it completely, just enough that someone can get in and out safely…… but after 3-4 drivers pulling in…..
