Got a question, why is it always the woman in the relationship that quits work to “discover herself”? If you have kids, that’s a legit reason, but not to “discover yourself”.
You go to college not always to get the job you want, but to not have to take the job you don’t want. I know of a gentleman, I know of him, but not him personally, who went to university and majored in Russian Linguistics. That qualified him to work as a boat captain, certified dive master, wilderness survival expert, linguist, mall pet store owner at age 15, animal wrangler, machinist, concrete inspector, and chef. His most notable work was co-hosting MythBusters (2003–2016) James (Jamie) Franklin Hyneman.
Programming is skilled but not it takes more to succeed. I helped retrain folks in programming in a language that wasn’t well known but had good demand in a niche. It wasn’t just programming education that was needed but confidence and presentation skills.

The point of life is continuation of the species. That being said, I’m not certain that all who participate should get a trophy….

Keep asking that kind of question, and you could find yourself working your way through school.
