“We left our laundry on the sofa for you, Mom!”??? Those kids are spoiled. At age 14 I was doing the laundry every Saturday for my whole family of 4! I usually did 3 loads, and hung it on the clothesline (no dryer for us back in 1958), all before 12:30 so that Mom could drive me to my horseback riding lesson … which I paid for by cooking dinner every day (except Saturday, when Daddy grilled steaks) for the 4 of us. To all Moms: if you’ve got a horse-crazy daughter—there’s your workforce!

Saw our daughter today. Our granddaughters are 13 and 15. We talked about cleaning up after them. Fortunately our daughter has a sense of humor.
