My condo association used to offer ‘basic’ cable as a benefit of the monthly strata fee. “Basic” cable included the local major over the air channels, a bunch of home shopping channels, a few Spanish language channels, and half a dozen evangelical channels. And the History Channel.
Where I live in Alabama there is actually a cable company called WOW (stands for Wild Old West for some strange reason). Their service is about like the strip suggests.
Funny thing is with Bell TV, they sign you up with a specific number of channels. THEN..they start taking away channels..and your bill keeps going UP. What the hell is that all about. With sports, they show a lot of games, but…90% are “not available in your area”. With cable, you are screwed and never get to enjoy it.
In the comic, I can’t tell if the “level of service” wow is because he already subscribes to just about everything (more than the clerk has seen before, so he can’t sell him any more), or because he has so little that any decrease would take him down to nothing.

That’s a WOW I’m surprised that you let us overcharge you for poor level of service for years and not complained earlier.

I’m guessing he’s going to get an unexpected & overdue “free” upgrade. Sometimes, you have to ask for them.

beware Bub, the service sales rep will quote you a nice price for a bunch of service, but when the first bill comes in will be higher!
