I know just how she feels. Having to read subtitles makes it near impossible to follow the action.

My problem is i don’t read very fast. I don’t like anything that has subtitles for that reason.

Living in France most of the films are in French… dubbed unfortunately… Even after 17 years living here it’s still almost impossible for me to follow the speech… I rely on the sub-titles… I can read the French much faster now…

My New Year’s resolution is to read more. So I turned on closed caption on the TV.

I just finished my third reading of the near 800 page JONATHAN STRANGE & MR NORRELL, and am sorry all over that there’s no more. On to another book, and there are more waiting after that.

I like reading the trilogy “The Deed of Paksenarrion” by Elizabeth Moon. There are more that follow, but I haven’t gotten to them. It reads like a D&D adventure. Probably my favorite book(s) of all time. I have the all-in-one in hardback and paperback, and the individual books in paperback. Actually, I think I have 2 of the all-in-one in paperback, so when the first one falls apart from being read so often, I have a back up. :o) Another fun fantasy collection is The Gandalara Cycle. Written by Randall Garrett and Vicki Ann Heydron. It is little known (or so popular no one is turning them in to used book stores). The “trilogy” I have is actually 7 books collected into a 3 book series. (3+3+1). The last book is mostly written by Vicki as Randall was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident and couldn’t work on the book. I highly recommend both collections.

One of my favourite shows was Rumpole of the Bailey. So imagine my joy when I found The First Rumpole Omnibus. I also have the second.

That Leo Kern was something else…

There is a live action “Parasyte” which was also made into an excellent and R rated anime both from the 1980’s manga with technological updates.
