One thing I forgot to mention over the past few days is that a few weeks ago Betty was called out for rather ungracious behaviour when Bub wanted to share a TV show he’d found, and it was suggested by someone (I shamefully forget who) that the criticism was gender based and wouldn’t have happened if the roles were reversed.
With that in mind, Bub and Jr’s behaviour is every bit as bad as hers was*. This is clearly something Betty enjoys, and at worst they should indulge her for a few hours every so often. Better yet, if it’s the family time (and the winning, from today) she enjoys, take her along to their FLGS and get an actually good game to play together. Just carping about it is disrespectful in a family situation.
*Their only small saving grace is Monopoly is a known element, unlike the show.
One thing I’ve noticed about board game circles and clubs is that there’s this unspoken rule: Nobody wants to play Monopoly. It’s a very flawed game.
In previous comics people described Betty as judgmental, selfish, critical, etc., and now I can’t help but view her actions differently. Better forcing her family play a game they don’t like just to crush them seems much more selfish than it once did.
