I happen to like Antique Furniture! It actually was built to LAST, unlike the particleboard crap you get from IKEA… or the do it yourself drek from Mall-Wart.
I’m with Verne on this one. Antique furniture is just weird, especially the stuff that’s so valuable precisely because it’s too fragile to use. Humans are so strange.
Some antiques were built as ornamental furniture not for use. If you have ever employ a designer, you will find they do the same thing – purchase things for ornament and not use. Nothing changes.
If you want to see some functional antique furniture, look at Stickley. The original stuff is really expensive, but it is well made and made to be used.
I thought Verne was an amphibian, and whereas George might not be reptile specifically, there are more similarities between him and an alligator or crocodile than an ostrich. No beak on George, no front paw claws on an ostrich, not to mention the long muscular tail too. George is an artistic impression of a creature that was never seen by human eyes… with a “Sombrero”… brought back from the past in a time traveling trash can. Why do we have to classify him as anything other than a comic strip character?

Verne may we remind you that you are like a member of the swamp crew . Now that’s gross ;-)

Sorry Verne, George is not really a reptile. More of a proto-avian.

I will forever see antique furniture in a different way. :/

Dusty little crevices? Who told Verne about my Psoriasis?

Read the other day that Billy Bob Thornton has a morbid fear of antique furniture – especially the baroque stuff from France and elsewhere

I like antique stores that sell memorabilia. What’s with all that old, out of date furniture?

George has more in common with ostriches and chickens than with crocodiles and turtles.

Modern furniture: all those ouch-y square metal corners and cold-to-the-touch armrests.
