My aunt Ginny had a 1960âs TV set
with a early version of the remoteâŠ.
It took a lot of effort to press the button,and,when
you did it would make a âwhooshâ sound and you
would hear the relay of the electric motor on the dial
go âCRUNK !ââŠ
In the mid â70s, my neighbours had a TV with a four-button non-electric remote control that made a loud âclickâ when you pushed a button. Back then they really were âclickersâ! (Apparently they were ultrasonic.)
My uncle had one of those ultrasonic remotes. My dad found out he could change the channels by jingling loose coins in his pocket. Drove my uncle nuts.
