For those of you not familiar with Bob Ross, a little wikiā¦
Robert Norman Ross (October 29, 1942 ā July 4, 1995) was an American painter, art instructor, and television host. He was the creator and host of The Joy of Painting, an instructional television program that aired from 1983 to 1994 on PBS in the United States, and also aired in Canada, Latin America, and Europe.
If you donāt like the old masters or mainstream art, how about trying something a little different? Fantasy art is my favorite, but steampunk is really fun, and comics are great. You can get stills from animated movies, photographs from around the world ā there are no end to the possibilities!
I have a desktop wallpaper program that cycles through all the pictures I have saved. Anytime I check my desktop I get a visual treat.

I thin the whole point of Bob Ross was that the art was for making, not for putting on someoneās screen.

I hope they are not the āclown paintingsā type.

Iād go for any sort of painting which can evoke an emotional response from old master to modern and in-between.

One of my backgrounds is a shot of the Grand Canyon. Itās stretched about 2:1 vertically, but itās hard to tell.

You know, thatās really a cool idea with the TV showing paintings. I think I would pick the works of Norman Rockwell myself to show on mineā¦. ;-)

You can still catch reruns, though theyāre now called āThe Best of the Joy of Painting.ā

He got me started doing it. I did about 21 versions of the mountain lake before I got it right (meaning one I would show in public.)

A final comment on the subject. If the painting is in a museum or similar, then the painting is not porn, but art.
