The only time I ever heard loud commentary at my public library was in the large atrium area near checkout. Two elderly ladies with extremely obvious NYC accents yelling/talking at each other about how horrible it is to live in the South and how my city didn’t even have a decent bagel place. I told them to speak louder because they hadn’t offended everyone in the building.
