When we were in Saudi Arabia my wife liked her abaya for the same reason.

Just finished reading the earlier strips. Very interesting, informative, and funny! And since there were more than a few of them that commented on wardrobe issues, I thought I should mention that I recently saw a young muslim woman in our office building on more than one occasion (I am guessing she is just another office professional employed in one of the suites) who has consistently worn some amazingly stylish outfits where only her face was exposed. Quite frankly, I could only think that she was being true to her beliefs and culture, but that she looked so much like she belonged right where she was! Different style from the western everyday, but amazingly eye-catching, and very professional.

I can only think that the kind of yahoos that think of muslims in suspicious terms would have a very hard time trying to pigeon hole someone like that as being a threat, or as being religiously or culturally brainwashed. So I found the title of your strip “Yes, I’m Hot in This” (with the gag line that went with it in one strip) as being very spot on.

    Keep up the good work!

I approve of women choosing what they want to wear, women wearing Abaya’s because they want to is perfectly fine with me, but I do think there need to be some effort, put into preventing their community for shaming them if they choose not to wear them.

Which is also equally true for other cultures, and is also equally true in reverse, in that other religions and cultures shaming women for not following dresscodes, is a problem that need to be tackled just as much as Muslims doing it, and there need to be effort put into preventing people, from shaming women who choose to wear Abaya’s.
