In 2012, the ticket costs $10-15, a small popcorn costs about $5, and a candy bar costs $2.
So back when this strip was made it costed CB 50 cents for his entire trip to the movie. Right now it costs about $25 for the same amount of food.

And even when the movie industry started, some films left viewers feeling overcharged.

Adjusted for inflation today (November 2022), that would be $3.52 for the movie, $1.01 for popcorn, and fifty cents for the candy bar.

My husband and I usually spend about $60 going to a movie. Tickets are $15 each (more for 3D movies) we get a “premiere combo” which is a large popcorn and 2 large drinks another $15, he gets a box of red vines $6 and I get a box of chocolate covered almonds $6. Sometimes I get a pickle too $3
It’s really too expensive, you could get a decent pair of shoes or something instead!
