Wow… Linton is actually the nicest son in his family, he who is the grouch of the mystery kids! I guess in current time Linton is in college studying computer science or some other major that will help him when he becomes a police officer, but I hope that, in the future, he and future Detective Lottie can meet again.

To be fair to Linton’s gamer brother, that is a valid way of how operators handle inbound phone calls like this. I once worked phone customer service where nearly all the calls we got were inbound calls (where the customer calls us). We needed to be ready and able to assist that customer when they called, but sometimes it could be a gap in the calls of several minutes. We weren’t allowed to play video games specifically of course (in fact, it needed to be things we could stop doing immediately whenever a call came in) but we were otherwise allowed to entertain ourselves mostly as we pleased in-between calls.

If someone did call in, then if it was something we were actually there and able to assist with, then we did so. Otherwise, we’d either send the caller either to someone who could assist them or wrap up the call as politely as we could and get back to passing the time until the next call came in.

In Mexico, a “sleeping policeman” means a speed bump, or, a city planners say, a “traffic calming device.” Many Mexican towns have them on the main roads. They are also called “topes,” which think means “molehills” (“el topo” = “the mole” (the animal)).

As one of three brothers myself, I really like the scenes of Linton interacting with his brothers.
