It’s a common question. What have the president’s ordinary supporters gotten out of their deal with him?
The answer is just as common—not much.
Before the pandemic, the only material outcome of backing Donald Trump was a slight decrease in their federal income taxes.
Other than that, gains have been performative, not substantive.
✄
But what most people don’t understand is that Trump is delivering, and he will keep delivering even if the economy collapses.
The deliverable doesn’t come in the shape of economics, policy or law.
It’s entirely psychological.
Think of it this way. Remember those men at “anti-quarantine protests” strolling around state capitols carrying semi-automatic rifles?
They said they were protesting stay-at-home orders. They said their goal was demonstrating their rights to bear arms, individual liberty and personal sovereignty.
But that wasn’t their immediate goal.
Their goal was intimidating peaceful and unarmed protesters.
Their goal was deriving pleasure from the fear of seeing men brandishing weapons the likes of which have massacred thousands in mass shootings around the country for the last decade and a half.
Their goal was savoring the flavor of gaslighting someone into thinking their goals were high-minded and pure rather than what they were: low and barbarous.
Gee, I wonder if this qualifies under yesterday’s “political prisoners” gaslighting…
…or “appointed themselves the controlling overlords” gaslighting?

President Donald Trump signed an executive order under the Defense Production Act to compel meat processing plants to remain open amid the coronavirus pandemic.
✄
By signing the order, Trump declared these plants part of critical infrastructure in the US.
✄
With many Americans staying home during the coronavirus, industry experts say demand for meat has increased.
But some of the country’s largest processing plants have been forced to cease operations temporarily after thousands of employees across the country have tested positive for the virus.
✄
According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the industry’s hazards include “high noise levels, dangerous equipment, slippery floors, musculoskeletal disorders, and hazardous chemicals.”
But in addition to those dangers, efforts to speed up processing has led to workers standing closer together — about three or four feet apart from each other while working.
Officials say that people should stand about six feet apart in order to maintain social distancing practices that could help prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Today for our beginning entry of “Every RW accusation is a confession!”
We have the L̷i̷e̷ “misrepresentation" that an elected Governor is somehow running a slave state in the year 2020 when he or she actually attempting to protect their constituents.
Of course, the “Economic Recovery” relying on opening up only the hair dressers, gyms and bowling alleys and not banks or factories is a worthy L̷i̷e̷ “misrepresentation", too…
and characterizing CONVICTED CRIMINAL Gordon Liddy as “great”, is also quite the L̷i̷e̷ “misrepresentation"….
Maybe good news for reopenings in WSJ today – NB, the note is from China, trust at your own risk:
In China, a study of 318 clusters (involving 1,245 patients) found 80% involved transmission in the home, 34% in public transportation. Only two people were found to have been infected in an outdoor setting. In Hong Kong, where people practice good social distancing, lockdowns haven’t been needed to keep hospitals from overflowing.

Humm…
This looks like somebody’s blog…
However, I see nothing in obvious error.
And from time to time…
…I likes me a truly righteous rant!

Just a little reminder…
Sears is controlled by hedge fund billionaire Eddie Lampert, who was Mnuchin’s college roommate at Yale University.
Mnuchin has invested in Lampert’s hedge fund, ESL, and served as a director on Sears’ board for 12 years according to his (previous) testimony.
And since Eddie Lampert, despite having no actual retail experience
(I.e. believed he knew far, far more than he actually did),
attempted to run Sears under his Libertarian principles…
Sears is currently contemplating bankruptcy.
Of course, Lampert himself will be fine, after he picks the 114 year old corpse of Sears, Roebuck and Company through Vulture Capitalism….
