There are old spruce trees that have dead limbs at their base where I walk my dog. When he chases or sees a squirrel in one of those trees, he tries to break the dead limbs off with his teeth….often with success. Very funny to watch, but I’m glad to say he’s never caught a squirrel.
Our dog was so proud of herself and we figured out why. There was a piece of squirrel tail next to her house and a short tailed squirrel that cursed her with a blue streak of cursing chittering and a storm of acorns every time he saw her.
One of our sweetest Border Collies succeeded in catching a squirrel — to his great dismay as it turned out. We went out to get him and he was coming up onto the deck with a little squirrel carefully in his mouth which he very gently laid at our feet, looking up at us for all the world like, “Something happened to him. Fix him, please!!!” There was barely a mark on him; I think the squirrel died of fright.

You can chase squirrels anytime. I can’t believe you fell for that.

That squirrel is nuts! Maybe Karl will show up and finally score and nail himself a squirrel?

Our black lab almost caught one the other day. Never have I rooted for a squirrel more in my life.

There’s a common theme with this comic. It’s like there should be a disclaimer saying ‘no critters were harmed in the making of this comic’.

Since the Covid 19 entered our lives I am not seeing more squirrels, but rabbits are everywhere and my dog wants to chase them so much.
