To go over the cast again: Connie lived across the street from Elly Patterson and Anne lived next door. Elly had a close personal relationship with both of these imaginary women - because all three were ME! Through Anne, I could explore the life I led as a woman whose husband had numerous affairs. It’s easier to believe the excuses than to deal with the truth. Through Connie I relived my life as a single parent. Both characters had things to say, and it felt good to say them. In contrast, Elly’s role in the strip was to play the humdrum, easygoing, happy housewife in between. Looking back at it now, I see this was something else I imagined!!
Allen V, be careful about attribution. Your quote was obviously from Lynn herself, but how many will know it is from today’s strip at her website “fbofw.com”?
Jan - I posted it in hope that some people would use their brains. Obviously, not everyone will, but it’s equally as obvious that many more will use it.
Not fighting as usual, huh? Yep … that’s a sure sign that they’re still sick alright! On the other hand, luckylouie could be right. If they’re being too good and quiet, you’d better run quick and check on them because they could be up to something they consider “fun” but wouldn’t turn out too well for anybody involved … especially you, Elly, who’d have to clean up all the mess afterwards!
ladyfingers86 you are correct. Rod Johnston was her second husband, the dentist, father of her daughter Katie. Most of the things she writes about her family on her site are from her marriage to him.

Elly realized the first sign and luckylouie noted the 2nd.

Elly looks nice today….she’s not all frazzled out by the kids.

Yeah, if they’re still in bed and not on the floor playing with their toys, they must still be ill.

First sign that something isn’t right with the kids, they are too quiet.
