It’s illegal to have a vehicle’s audio device too loud. As it is illegal to wear a full headset. Most idiots don’t realize hearing is also an important aspect of driving. Enforcing that law, is a problem & largely impractical.

At 17 I thought I was hot with the help of Radio Shack. Now 35 year olds with $5000 show me what an amateur I was.

I once lived in a community that passed a law saying that the police could impound a vehicle if its stereo was over a certain decibel level. A great law, but I wish they had extended it to include motorcycles with explosively loud exhausts. To me the Harley riders who love to ride down the street and rev their motors to ear-splitting levels are far worse than the blaring stereo listeners. They should be Tyr’s next target.

South Park had a fantastic episode about the a**hole hog jockeys: http://www.southparkstudios.com/full-episodes/s13e12-the-f-word

When I got my first Harley I had the pipes tuned way down. I had the bike for a bit over a month when a SUV driver hit it and drug it (and me) for some distance. The cop told me that the driver said she didn’t see the bike. Now i have loud pipes as a matter of survival.

I once stopped a kid and asked him why he had his stereo up so loud and thumping like that.

He said, “WHAT? SPEAK UP, I CAN’T HEAR YOU!””

I hate those mobile boomboxes, especially when I have a headache. The pounding in my head starts to beat in time with the booming from the car. My husband wishes he had a device that would bounce the noise back at the rude car and blow out the speakers.

Spending 5000.00 for a loud stereo now is practice for spending 5000.00 for hearing aids later.
